Had Sister Murdock and Sister Boone to dinner. It was Sister Boone's Birthday. Had cookies and ice cream to celebrate. This picture was taken at another time.

Had an appointment at Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma for an MRI of my shoulder. Dr. Coons is on vacation so won't get results until my appointment with him December 11th.
Don Ericksen was invited to the Ward YM & YW Dinner & Talent Show so he had June Doyle and us go with him. There were not very many older folks there besides us. It was a good dinner and each of the YM & YW classes did a skit.

Relief Society Super Saturday. Lots of crafts to make, but I just made Brinlee's Nativity so I could send it to her completed for Christmas. Sorry to the rest of the family, they got their Nativities unfinished for them to do as a craft project in Family Home Evening or other occasion. This was to be Christmas for each of the families.

Our Olympia 1st Ward has been having a "60 Day Fast". We chose this as our day to fast and also made it a fast with the Naples 1st Ward, Ashley Stake and the Lamond Harrison family for Lamond. Lamond had fallen and broke both of his hips. In the process of having them checked found out he had bone cancer. He had both of the hips replaced, but found out he had cancer and it had become Stage 4, having moved into his spine and quickly into other parts of his body. He passed away December 15,2014. His "Celebration of Life" was on December 20, 2014.

Transfer day--Sister Boone went to Chehalis and Sister White came to Olympia 1st. Sister Murdock stayed here. Sister White is from Vernal (Maeser area and her dad is a doctor in Vernal).

Archives closed for Thanksgiving so no work. We went to University Place in the Tacoma area for dinner with Elder & Sister Harwood and Elder & Sister Hadlock, at the Hadlocks. After cleaning up we played some cards. Elder Martin is rally getting use to this activity. Funny huh! We stayed a little longer than w should have because we had to drive home in the dark like Elder Martin doesn't like to do.

Had a "tiny" skiff of snow in the morning. Hardly had enough worth mentioning. The natives say it is unusual to get snow here, just in the mountains and Mt. Rainier. Mt. Rainier has lots of snow that stays all year long.

Went out to go to church and the temperature was 18 degrees, unusually cold for here. There was heavy frost on the passenger side of the van (it is not covered by the carport) and the door was stuck.
December 1-10, 2014
Regular work time at the Archives for a change. We get a lot of work done when we don't have so many days off.
Sister White has been really sick off and on for several days. She had severe pains in her left side and abdomen that really made her sick. She had been seen by the Mission Nurse and had to go to the Emergency a couple of times. She asked Elder Martin for a blessing.

Appointment with Dr. Coons to find out the results of the MRI. Rotator cuff has definitely torn again and definitely cannot be fixed again. I have a lot of arthritis and the ball and socket are bone on bone. Dr. Coons presented two alternatives. One would be to live with it like it is and take pain meds as needed and two he could do a Reverse Shoulder Replacement. We told him we would need to think about it and decide if that is what we would do and get back with him. After discussing the situation and praying and fasting we decided we would have the shoulder surgery. Now we wait for the approval of Humana before it can be scheduled.
Got a beautiful Christmas door wreath from Kevin and Robyn. Enjoy having it to look at as we come and go from the apartment. Really sets the Spirit of Christmas.

Olympia 1st Ward Christmas dinner and program. Had a wonderful dinner and was entertained with a string orchestra (Mainly youth from our ward) during dinner. Had some other musical numbers from ward members and the Primary.
Found out at the dinner that Sister White is still really sick. We went y their apartment on our way home to check on her and found out President Blatter was sending her home where she could get tests done to find out what was going on with her that could not be done here on her mission insurance. She will fly to Salt Lake tomorrow and her mother will pick her up.

Washington Tacoma Senior Missionary Christmas Party at the Mission Home (President & Sister Blatter's home) in Tacoma. I was a wonderful dinner and time to visit and meet the new Senior Couples. We had a White Elephant gift exchange. This is always interesting and fun.

A very Special day for our family because we were blessed with our 8th great grand child: Zaeli Kay Morales (8lb 15 oz. 20 in).
This was the Holiday Potluck for the Archives. A time to socialize with all of the staff of the Archives. We see most of them on a daily basis, but some only once in awhile. Some interesting dishes were shared by everyone.

Young Elders and Sisters Christmas Party at the Pearl Chapel in Tacoma. We joined other Senior Missionaries to help with decorations and food preparation. This was an all day affair. It was interesting to hear their renditions of Christmas Carols. They don't just sing them, they yell them and stomp on the floor or tables. It was very loud. Elder Martin had to turn his hearing instruments down and Elder Searles took his out. Quite a loud commotion. Each of the Districts gave skits. Some were really good. They have quite the imaginations. The Districts broke up into the White Elephant Exchange. Very interesting. Makes you wonder where they get some of their White Elephants, like a speed sign, tapestries, etc. Smile! After the meal and the fun there was a meeting in the chapel for a Spiritual Feast. Here is where they sang like they were suppose to and had some individual musical numbers and talks.
Got some special Christmas decorations from the family with pictures of all of the grand kids and great grandkids. Made a nice decoration on our fireplace with the Christmas cards we had received.
Christmas Day. We were able to enjoy a Christmas Dinner with Elder & Sister Harwood and Elder & Sister Fillmore (CES Couple) here in our apartment. We visited for a while then they needed to get back to their apartments so they could Skype with their families. So Elder & Sister Martin enjoyed the rest of the day with some quiet time reading and hearing from our own families. Elder Martin also took the time for some "pre-sleep". Smile!

We received an e-mail from Sister Powers informing us that our sweet Sister Padgett from the Sterling Ward in Illinois had passed away this morning. What sad news about a wonderful and interesting centurian. Elder Martin always said she was a "National Treasure". She had turned 100 on her birthday in 2014 and still had a very alert and keen mind. A very special and elite lady we loved visiting with and hearing her stories. She will truly be missed.
While at the Archives today we also found out that Laura Adair, one of our Contractors working with us, would be leaving tomorrow to travel to Jefferson City, Missouri to work. She will be finishing up some Archive work for Family Search that a Senior Missionary Couple had to leave unfinished because of the end of their mission. We will really miss her. She has been a big help to us in our work and have really enjoyed her very much. Elder Martin gave her some sweet "fatherly" advise about her travels and being safe. He was really cute with her.

New Years Day
We did something we have not done since being on this mission, we went to the movie to see "The Hobbit".
Mom (Sister Martin) also finally finished the puzzle. What a hard puzzle. Wish I had had some help from my puzzle kids and grandkids. I have taken it apart and will put it back together with help from everyone when we get home, then put it in a picture frame for one of our walls. Love it so much. Here is a picture to prove I did finish it. Smile!
I love reading these posts with your pictures! Don't beat yourself up over it being belated; it is great to share anytime. I need to send you some fun pictures from the holidays too. ...I'll get right on that :)
